MFC r212853-212855:
Rewrite parts of the calibration code which is run while bringing up
the device:
- Group functions used for initial calibration.
- Unobscure some of the code by moving it into its own functions.
- Get rid of some magic numbers.
- Create similar structure as the reference driver has, this should
  make further syncs easier.
