- Attempt to unbreak parallel (-jX) builds: call sub-makes correctly
- Pad pkg-message display for consistency of port vs. package install
- Cleanup the port a bit: drop gratuitous variables, use REINPLACE_CMD
  instead of MV/SED, convert to OptionsNG, etc.
