Update to the latest snapshot of the stable branch, plus a workaround
for the longstanding libc vs. libc_r issue.

This should hopefully fix all the ruby extensions such as Ruby/Qt2GL,
Ruby/Python and Ruby/SDL for both 4-STABLE and 5-CURRENT. :)
